About Me

Aziel Nunez embarked on a journey of life deeply rooted in empathy, leadership, and patience, traits instilled in him from a young age. As the son of Evangelical missionaries, he was exposed to a rich tapestry of cultures and spiritual teachings, living in diverse locations like Mexico City, San Diego, Redlands, Madrid, and Chicago. This unique upbringing shaped his worldview and influenced his path significantly.

His education and career path reflected his early influences. Drawn to the interplay of politics and spirituality, he pursued a BA in Political Science and Religion from Colgate University. This pursuit was not just an academic endeavor but a journey to deepen his understanding of the world’s complexities. His thirst for knowledge didn’t stop there. He went on to earn an MDiv from Yale University, followed by a DMin in Transformational Leadership from Boston University. His academic journey was a testament to his commitment to understanding and leading societal change.

He translated his learning into action as a Pastor for several Hispanic non-denominational congregations. His leadership was not confined to the pulpit; it extended to the community, where he made significant contributions in Massachusetts, New York, and South Carolina. He also served as an Adjunct Instructor at Tri-County Technical College, where his passion for education as a tool for empowerment shone brightly, especially in under-resourced communities.

Nunez’s areas of expertise are diverse yet interconnected. He is a staunch advocate for education as a means of empowerment, a champion for marginalized communities, and an academic with a focus on first-century Judaism and the Sociology of Religion. His 11-year tenure as a parish pastor allowed him to cultivate these areas, establishing him as a transformational figure in both the academic and pastoral realms.

His contributions, particularly to the Latinx community, earned him the Hispanic Heritage Month Mayor Proclamation, a significant recognition of his relentless efforts and dedication to bridging diverse communities.

Beyond his professional life, he enjoys a variety of hobbies. Skiing became a passion during his college days in the cold climes of upstate New York. His interest in first-century Judaism is more than an academic pursuit; it’s a source of personal fulfillment, a way to connect with the historical context of Jesus’s life and teachings. Nature walks, especially with his family, reveal his compassionate and reflective side.
